courses & workshops

Flute School London normally offers a main three-day course during the Autumn half term week, a residential course in May, year-round tuition via the Flute Academy London, and flute days throughout the year. We are adding the efluteacademy for year-round live-online tuition.

Last year's October course was over 3 days - 25, 26, 27th October 2019.

There was a different guest tutor each day: Tom Hancox on Friday, Michael Cox on Saturday and Katherine Baker on Sunday. We designed the timetable with a focus on continuity throughout the three days to maximise personal development. Ensembles were coached, with sessions 2 and 3 developing work done in session 1. Individual lessons took place throughout the day.

Advanced players - included workshops/masterclasses with our guest tutors. Specialist talks - including How to prepare for Diploma exams by Christine Hankin (a Diploma Examiner for ABRSM). Individual lessons for those on Gold or Platinum packages.

Intermediate Adults is always a parallel course for less advanced adult players. Workshops on technique (basic or other), pieces, ensemble playing, whatever was needed. Individual lessons if booked on Gold or Platinum packages.

Juniors: In a more fun style for kids, mini masterclasses,  ensembles, games, improvisation, workshops on flute technique and much more. The Junior course was run by Sarah Desbruslais.

WhizzKidz  is always for youngsters in their early teens or even younger who have passed high Grades or Diplomas. They are  stretched, with extra workshops, scales workouts, a chance to meet our guest artists, individual lessons or the opportunity of a masterclass (places limited) if booked on the Gold package, and more.

We always encourage people to just ask if they are unsure about which course is right for them.

For all: Each day included some ensemble-playing and/or flute choir, workshops and masterclasses, opportunities to play with the piano (with Simon Gilliver), a lunchtime concert by our guest artist and the flute shop All Flutes Plus was there with lots of music, flutes and accessories to try and buy!...and much, much more....

2020 saw the birth of eflutefest, a great success during lockdown due to Covid19. This is going to continue as ongoing live-online tuition throughout the year. See the website for details
