courses & workshops

This year's October course is over 3 days - 25, 26, 27th October 2019.

There will be a different guest tutor each day: Tom Hancox on Friday, Michael Cox on Saturday and Katherine Baker on Sunday. We have designed the timetable with a focus on continuity throughout the three days to maximise personal development - so we strongly recommend booking for the whole course. (You will still be able to book for a single day or 2 days, however.) Ensembles will be coached, with sessions 2 and 3 developing work done in session 1 if appropriate. Individual lessons will take place throughout the day and you may have to leave a session you are in for that. We are very pleased to have Christine Hankin with us for the first time this year for some of the individual teaching & ensemble coaching. Christine will also be holding a talk on How to prepare for your Diploma exam, on the Friday.

COURSE CONTENT:

Advanced players - includes workshops/masterclasses with our guest tutors (NB if you wish to perform in a masterclass, places are very limited - priority goes to students who attend for the full 3 days). Specialist talks - including How to prepare for Diploma exams by Christine Hankin (a Diploma Examiner for ABRSM). Individual lessons if booked on Gold or Platinum packages.

Intermediate Adults is a parallel course for less advanced adult players. Workshops on technique (basic or other), pieces, ensemble playing, whatever you need right now! Individual lessons if booked on Gold or Platinum packages.

Juniors: In a more fun style for kids, there will be mini masterclasses (bring your pieces!), ensembles, games, improvisation, workshops on flute technique and much more. This year the Junior course will be run by Sarah Desbruslais.

WhizzKidz  is for youngsters in their early teens or even younger who have passed high Grades or Diplomas. You will be stretched, with extra workshops, scales workouts, a chance to meet our guest artists, individual lessons or the opportunity of a masterclass (places are limited) if booked on the Gold package, and more.

Please just ask if you are unsure about which course is for you.

For all: Each day includes some ensemble-playing and/or flute choir, workshops and masterclasses, opportunities to play with the piano (with Simon Gilliver), a lunchtime concert by our guest artist and the flute shop All Flutes Plus will be there with lots of music, flutes and accessories to try and buy!...and much, much more....
