studied the flute with Averil Williams at the Guildhall School, whilst also taking a Degree in Music at City University. She was also taught by Geoffrey Gilbert, Peter Lloyd, Kate Lukas & Patricia Morris (piccolo). Janna works mostly as a freelance player in London and surrounding areas. For many years she was principal flute for Pimlico Opera and 2nd flute for Grange Park Opera. She regularly plays with her chamber group Harmoniemusik of which she is a founder member, and with the Gainsborough Ensemble, based at Gainsborough's House in Sudbury. She also works as a soloist in recitals and with various orchestras. Janna regularly performs in Germany and has toured all over Europe, and in Yemen and Mexico. Concerts in previous years have included a solo recital at Stapleford Granary which included Steve Reich's Vermont Counterpoint, Bach’s Suite in B minor, a concerto concert at St Martin-in-the-Fields, This year solo concerts include a performance of Poulenc's beautiful sonata with orchestral accompaniment in May & a tour to Berlin with the ensemble Harmoniemusik in June. Janna is looking forward to teaching on the flute course at Monplaisir in France again in April this year.  Janna has often appeared on BBC Radio 3 and has made recordings for the WDR in Germany. Janna teaches the flute at Dame Alice Owen’s School and privately. She is co-founder of The Flute Ensemble London and of the Flute School London and of eflute academy, and runs several other ensembles.
